THE TURNING POINT

  • BU outscored the Leopards, 20-9, in the final 10 minutes thanks to Williams tallying 10 of her 11 fourth-quarter points during a 12-2 Terrier run to open the stanza.
HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Thanks to five points from freshman Nia Irving and four more from junior Sophie Beaudry, BU led the Leopards, 14-11, after the opening quarter.
  • Senior Sarah Hope went 3-of-4 from 3-point range in the first half, with her third trey from well beyond the arc giving the Terriers their largest lead of the first half at 32-20. The Leopards got a point back at the free throw line and BU went to the locker room up by 11, 32-21.
  •  It was more of the same for the Terriers to begin the third quarter, as they opened the frame on a 7-2 run that was capped by a bucket from Irving to give them a 39-23 lead.
  • Hope (12 pts) and Williams (10 pts) each reached double figures through three quarters, but Lafayette hit a 3-pointer at the buzzer to cut the Terrier lead to 48-41 after three quarters.
  • BU shot 50 percent from the field in each of the final two quarters and held Lafayette to just 16.7 percent shooting over the final 10 minutes.
GAME NOTES
  • The Terrier defense held Lafayette to 29.3% shooting on Sunday, marking the first time they have held a team below 30 percent from the floor since Feb. 17, 2016, when BU kept Colgate to a 28.8% mark.
  • Hope reached double figures for the second straight contest and for the fourth time in the last five games.
  • BU out-rebounded the Leopards, 38-32, and outscored Lafayette in the paint, 34-14. The Terriers also collected 13 second-chance points.
  • Sunday's 18-point win is the largest victory of the season and the Terriers' biggest win since a 19-point victory on Feb. 18, 2014.
UP NEXT
  • BU will hit the road on Wednesday when the Terriers travel to Washington, D.C., to face American.
