BOSTON – The No. 12/11 Boston University men's ice hockey team dropped a 4-1 decision to No. 15 Northeastern on Saturday evening at Agganis Arena.
Junior Jordan Greenway scored the lone goal for the Terriers, who move to 4-5-1 overall and 2-2-1 in Hockey East play. The Huskies got a hat trick from senior Nolan Stevens to improve to 5-2-1 with a perfect 3-0-0 conference mark.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Northeastern opened the scoring 11:44 into the game when Grant Jozefek found Bobby Hampton streaking down the slot.
- Stevens beat the buzzer in the first, scoring right as time expired to give the visitors a 2-0 lead heading into the first intermission.
- Greenway scored a power-play goal at the left doorstep 2:09 into the second period following a perfectly placed pass by sophomore Patrick Harper from the right corner.
- Stevens secured his first collegiate hat trick later in the second period and put away the game for the Huskies in the process.
- Midway through the second, Stevens sent in a rebound off a left-point shot Zach Solow to regain a two-goal lead for the Huskies.
- Stevens capped his first collegiate hat trick when he tipped in a Ryan Shea offering with 1:54 left in the middle stanza.
- BU held a 14-7 shot advantage in the final period but was unable to cut into the deficit.
GAME NOTES
- Saturday's result snapped an eight-game unbeaten streak (7-0-1) for BU in the series between the crosstown rivals.
- The Terriers held a 34-32 shot advantage for the game.
- BU went 1-for-3 on the power play and killed off all three of Northeastern's chances with the man advantage including a five-minute major in the third period.
- Sophomore Jake Oettinger made 28 saves for the Terriers.
- Ryan Ruck started in goal for the Huskies and played half the game, making 14 saves on 15 shots.
- Cayden Primeau played the remainder of the contest and stopped all 19 shots he faced.
