BOSTON – The Boston University women's basketball team will look for its second straight win in West Point as it squares off against Army West Point in its Patriot League opener on Friday, Dec. 29. Tipoff from Christl Arena is set to commence at 3 p.m.

LAST TIME OUT

  • BU could not overcome Brown's high-octane offense as it suffered a 92-68 defeat Friday, Dec. 22 at the Pizzitola Sports Center in its non-conference finale.
  • Nia Irving notched her third double-double of the season, matching a season-high with 19 points to go with 11 rebounds.
  • BU's bench contributed 30 points, led a 13-point effort from Naiyah Thompson.
  • Tenisha Pressley led the Terriers with three assists and added five rebounds and four points.
  • Despite the loss, BU finished with at least a .500 record in conference play for the first time since the 2012-13 season.

PATRIOT LEAGUE OPENERS

  • BU won its first-ever Patriot League opener last season, topping Holy Cross, 66-49.
  • Friday's matchup will mark the first time BU will face a team other than Holy Cross, as the Terriers have opened conference play against the Crusaders for the past four seasons.

SCOUTING ARMY WEST POINT

  • The Black Knights closed out their non-conference schedule with a 107-46 thrashing over St. Joseph's Brooklyn Dec. 16.
  • With the win, Army West Point broke a three-game losing streak to improve to 7-4 on the season.
  • Three-time Patriot League Player of the Week Madison Hovren leads the Black Knights and ranks third in the league with 16.5 points per game. 
  • Hovren also ranks second in the league with 10.4 rebounds per game and is one of two players in the league to average a double-double.
  • Libby Tacka (8.8) and Daizjah Morris (8.4) follow Hovren in scoring.
  • Janae McNeal is the top assist provider, averaging 3.4 per game.

THE SERIES

  • BU won its first game against the Black Knights since joining the Patriot League, 66-62, in the previous contest on March 1, 2017.
  • The victory marked an ended to a  seven-game slide against Army West Point and marked BU's first win in West Point since 1981.

  • The Terriers will return to Case Gym on Tuesday, Jan. 2 for a 2 p.m. matchup with Loyola Maryland.
