BOSTON – The Boston University women's basketball will open up a two-game homestand and look for its fourth straight win as it hosts Marist on Saturday, Dec. 9 for a 2 p.m. tilt.

LAST TIME OUT

  • Behind a 19-point and 14-rebound effort from Nia Irving, BU earned its third straight victory with a 57-41 decision over Vermont Sunday at Patrick Gymnasium.
  • Irving scored 14 straight points for the Terriers off the bench in the first half en route to notching her second doulbe-double of the season.
  • Sophie Beaudry also overpowered Vermont with 12 rebounds and fell one point shy of a double-double.
  • Katie Nelson reached double digits for the fourth time in the last five games with 12 points and dished out a game-high six assists.
  • BU held Vermont to just 28.0 percent shooting (14-of-50) from the floor, marking the lowest opponent shooting percentage of the season.

LEADING THE PACK

  • Nia Irving has led the Terriers in scoring in each of the last two games, shooting a combined 61.5 percent (16-for-26) from the floor.
  • Irving has done most of her damage in the first half, as she has scored 30 of her last 35 points in the first half on 82.3 percent (14-of-17) shooting.
  • The sophomore from Fairfield, Maine ranks second on the team with 13.7 points per game.

  • BU is off to its first 5-2 start since the 2005-06 season.
  • With a win against the Red Foxes, the Terriers would move to 6-2 for the first time since the 2001-12 season.

  • The senior led the league with 2.1 blocks per game a season ago and was named to both the All-Patriot League First Team and the All-Defensive Team.

  • As a team, the Terriers lead the Patriot League in field goal percentage (.440) and 3-point field goal percentage (.366).
  • Katie Nelson leads the league in triples per game (3.0) and 3-point field goal percentage (.447).
  • BU holds the third-best scoring margin (2.7) in the league and has held each opponent to shoot under .500 percent.

FLOOR GENERAL

  • Katie Nelson leads the Patriot League with 5.4 assists per game.
  • The freshman also ranks second in the league with a 1.8 assists to turnover ratio and leads the league with 36.8 minutes per game.

  • The bench has accounted for 60 percent (81-of-135) of BU's scoring output over the last two games.
TERRIER TIDBITS
  • Katie Nelson leads the team and all freshmen in the league with 13.7 points per game.
  • Irving follows with 10.3 points per game and Payton Hauck rounds out the team's double-digit scorers with an average of 10.0 points per game.
  • Hauck leads the team with a .540 shooting percentage, while Naiyah Thompson follows with a .500 percent shooting clip.
  • On the boards, Sophie Beaudry leads the team with 6.4 rebounds per game and Irving follows right behind with a 6.3 average.

SCOUTING MARIST

  • The Red Foxes cruised past Rhode Island, 64-42, on Wednesday night to snap a six-game losing streak and move to 2-7 on the season.
  • Maura Fitzpatrick posted game-highs of 16 points and eight rebounds against the Rams.
  • Fitzpatrick owns the team lead with 6.7 rebounds per game and ranks second 2.2 per game.
  • Rebekah Hand leads the team with a 15.9 scoring clip and ranks second with a 6.3 rebound average.
  • 16th-year head coach Brian Giorgis has led the Red Foxes to 10 NCAA Tournament appearances and 10 MAAC Championships.

THE SERIES

  • Sophie Beaudry dropped 20 points in last season's contest in Poughkeepsie, but Marist held the lead throughout the game and came away with a 76-57 decision.
  • The Red Foxes have won each of the last four matchups and hold an 8-5 lead in the all-time series.
  • BU's last victory came in a 62-56 overtime contest at home Dec. 8, 2012.
  • The Terriers are a split 3-3 in home games against Marist.
