Terriers Celebrate Senior Day with 68-56 Wire-to-Wire Win over Holy Cross

BOSTON – Highlighted by junior Sophie Beaudry's game-high 21 points and a near triple-double effort from sophomore Payton Hauck, the Boston University women's basketball team rolled to a 68-56 win over Holy Cross on Saturday afternoon at Case Gym. Prior to completing the sweep against the Crusaders, the Terriers recognized seniors Meghan Green, Sarah Hope and Courtney Latham.

TURNING POINT

  • Junior Sophie Beaudry followed senior Sarah Hope's 3-pointer with a three-point play of her own to key a game-opening 18-4 run.
  • The Crusaders eventually pulled within two (45-43) at 2:17 in the third quarter, but Hope responded with her third trey to spark a 12-2 spurt capped by sophomore Payton Hauck's tip-in at 6:26 in the fourth.
GAME NOTES
  • Beaudry was named the Turnpike Trophy MVP after tallying a game-high 21 points and five blocks, as BU extended its lead to 12-1 against Holy Cross in the all-sports competition.
  • Hauck had career highs in points (12), rebounds (9) and assists (6).
  • BU claimed its first sweep over Holy Cross since joining the Patriot League in the summer of 2013 and won back-to-back games against the Crusaders for the first time since 1977 ... Holy Cross now leads the all-time series, 13-5.
  • With the win, the Terriers clinched the No. 5 seed and will open the PL tourney at No. 4 American on March 6.
