Women's Lacrosse Bows to Dartmouth, 19-7

BOSTON, Mass. – The high-powered attack of Dartmouth was too much for the Boston University women's lacrosse team as it dropped a 19-7 decision to the Big Green Wednesday afternoon at Nickerson Field.

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • Dartmouth staked a two-goal lead just over three minutes into action before Elisabeth Jayne puts the Terriers on the board 4:50 into action.
  • The Big Green responded 30 seconds after Jayne's strike, though Avery Donahoe worked her way around the cage and sneaked one past the keeper to make it a two-goal game again with 22:40 left in the half.
  • Dartmouth reeled off a 3-0 run over the next seven minutes to push its lead to 7-2.
  • Kelly Matthews sparked the Terrier attach with back-to-back goals from just outside the crease, cutting the deficit to three, 7-4, with 11:50 left in the half.
  • The Big Green scored three more goals off of turnovers, including one at the buzzer, to hold a 10-4 advantage at the end of the first.
  • Sarah Andersen delivered a top-shelf score just 48 seconds into the second frame, though the Big Green responded just over two minutes later to go back up by six.
  • Jayne struck again with 26:53 remaining before Dartmouth held BU scoreless for the next 20 minutes and teared off a 6-0 run. Jayne snapped the run with just over six minutes to go, but the Big Green pulled away for its fourth straight win.
GAME NOTES 
  • Dartmouth scored seven of its 10 goals in the first half off BU turnovers.
  • Matthews extended her point streak to 11 games. The sophomore has tallied a point in 16-of-20 career games.
  • Jayne netted her second hat trick of the season. She leads the Terriers with eight scores on the season.

  • The Terriers will head to California for a two-game road swing, starting with San Diego State on March 5 before taking on No. 3/3 USC.
