DELAND, Fla. - Led by freshman
Zhangcheng Guo's third-place finish, the Boston University golf team placed second at the Babs Steffens Invitational, hosted by Stetson University at the Victoria Hills Golf Club.
The Terriers played their best golf of the spring en route to a 54-hole total of 898 (302-297-299). This is the first time that BU has ever broken 900 in a 54-hole tournament, easily surpassing the previous program record of 907. This weekend also marked the first time that the Terriers broke 300 twice in the same tournament. All five Terriers in the lineup had a round in the 70s on each of the final two days of the tournament to help BU edge host Stetson by two shots for second place in the 11-team field.
Guo was fantastic all weekend. She was tied for the opening-round lead thanks to a one-under 71, her best-ever round as a Terrier. She then carded a pair of 75s to finish with a score of 221, good for third. Senior
Adela Cejnarova finished one stroke back of Guo with a score of 222 (76-74-72). She played the final round at even par on Monday and was tied for sixth overall.
Junior
Phyllis Tang finished tied for 15th with a 227 (75-77-75) while freshman
Abby Parsons totaled a 232 (84-72-76). Her even-par 72 on Sunday - achieved thanks to an eagle on the 18th hole - was the best round of her collegiate career. Sophomore
Megan Carter improved with each round over the weekend and finished with a score of 237 (82-79-76) while freshman
Saeros Oskarsdottir competed as an individual and carded a 259 (88-88-83).
BU will return to the course on April 1 and 2 for the 54-hole Harvard Invitational, to be played in Sarasota, Florida.
