WASHINGTON, DC– Despite 14 points and nine rebounds from junior Sophie Beaudry, the Boston University women's basketball team fell to American, 57-51 in the PL Quarterfinal game on Monday night at Bender Arena.

TURNING POINT
- Sophomore Naiyah Thompson hit a jumper to give BU its largest lead of the game, 34-29, with 5:58 left in the third quarter, but American would go on a 8-0 run to take a 37-34 lead it would not relinquish.
- American's Elina Koskimies hit a 3-pointer to put American back on top, 35-34 with 5:03 remaining in the third quarter. During Koskimies' shot, BU's Corrine Williams ran through a screen and was called for a loose ball foul which gave American the ball back. Lauren Crisler made a layup to complete a 5-point American possession and make it a 37-34 game.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- American came out hot, shooting 54.5% (6-11) in the first quarter while holding BU to 33.3% (4-12) as American built a 15-10 lead after one.
- Naiyah Thompson hit a tough shot in traffic and was fouled and made her free throw to cut American's lead to 24-21 with 6:25 to play in the half.
- American's Emily Kinneston made two free throws with 1:45 left in the first half to put American up 28-25. Kinneston ended the half with 11 points to lead all scorers as the Eagles took a 29-25 lead to the locker room.
- Sarah Hope's 3-pointer with 7:30 to play in the 3rd quarter gave BU its first lead of the game, 32-29, since it lead 2-0 in the first minute of the game.
- Cecily Carl's 3-pointer with 35 seconds remaining in the third quarter gave American a 41-38 lead after three.
- After trailing BU 34-29 with 5:58 left tine third quarter, American would go on an 8-0 run to take a 37-34 lead that it would never relinquish.
- American shot 5-7 from the free throw line in the fourth quarter to help close out the game and seal the 57-51 win.
GAME NOTES
- BU had a big advantage on the glass, out rebounding American 42 to 28.
- BU outscored American in the paint, 32 to 26.
- BU's bench outscored American's 12 to 5.
- BU shot just 23.1% (3-13) from 3-point range in the game while American shot 40% (6-15).
