SARASOTA, Fla. - The Boston University golf team set another program record en route to a second-place finish at the Harvard Invitational this weekend hosted at the Oaks Club.
The Terriers combined for a 54-hole total of 896, two strokes better than their record score of 898 last week at the Babs Steffens Invitational. Sunday's round of 294 is the best of the season for BU, just four strokes off the program record for low team round.
Junior
Phyllis Tang and sophomore
Megan Carter tied for third with a score of 222. Carter fired a personal-best score of 70 on Sunday, good for two-under par on the day. That 70 came a day after her opening-round 73 set a then-personal best. She also shot 79 in the second round. Tang, meanwhile, recorded an even-par 72 on Sunday after rounds of 74 and 76 on Saturday. Both Tang and Carter set personal bests with their 54-hole scores.
Senior
Adela Cejnarova tied for 13th thanks in part to her two-under 70 in Saturday's second round. She finished the tournament with a score of 229 (84-70-75). Freshman
Abby Parsons fired three straight 77s to tie for 18th with a total of 231 while classmate
Zhangcheng Guo carded a 237 (76-84-77) to tie for 30th. Parsons began her tournament two-under after nine holes while Guo was one-under after her opening nine holes.
BU set itself apart from the field in par-5 scoring. The Terriers finished -7 on par-5s this weekend, the only school to shoot below par on such holes. Carter in particular was terrific on par-5s, shooting five-under for the weekend. BU also made 31 birdies as a team.
The Terriers will next tee off on Monday, April 10, at the 54-hole Hoya Invitational.
