RESULTS
West Windsor, N.J. - The No. 2 Boston University women's lightweight rowing team continued their spring season this Saturday and Sunday, competing against openweight and lightweight competition at the Knecht Cup. The weekend of racing was highlighted by two 2nd place finishes by the varsity eight boat in the grand finals of both the lightweight and openweight competitions.

Due to unrowable conditions on Saturday, the originally scheduled two days of racing was condensed to a single day of heat and finals racing in a test of endurance on Sunday. Both the varsity eight boat and second varsity eight boat raced four times on Sunday.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The BU varsity eight boat, coxed by Taylor Alix and stoked by Janice Hagerman finished first in both its heat races to advance to both the lightweight grand final and the openweight grand finals.
- In the lightweight grand final, BU finished with a time of 6:46.75, second only to defending national champion Stanford (6:44.26) and ahead of third-place Princeton (6:47.85).Â
- In the openweight grand final, BU finished second with a time of 6:45.77, behind only winner Miami (6:43.84) and ahead of Stanford Lightweights (6:47.36) and Radcliffe Lightweights (6:52.5).
- Â Also competing on openweight competition, the BU second varsity eight boat, coxed by Elizabeth Wu and stroked by Mariah Ippolito, finished third in its heat race and advanced to the semifinals. In the semis, the BU 2V finished fourth with a time of 7:11.01 and moved on to the petite finals. In the petite final, the 2V finished fourth with a time of 7:02.99, ahead of openweight boats from Fordham, North Carolina and UMass.

After this weekend's competition, BU will return home to compete in the annual Beanpot vs. Harvard and MIT on April 15.
