HOW IT HAPPENED
  • BU's offense clicked early as Jayne and Mickenzie Larivee found the back of the net with 25 seconds of each other to give BU an early 2-0 advantage.
  • From there, Lafayette reeled off a 3-0 run spanning over 10 minutes, led by two scores from Patriot League Attacker of the Year Kirsten Wilhelmsen, to take its first lead of the game midway through the half.
  • The Terriers responded with two quick strikes from Larivee and Avery Donahoe to reclaim the lead, but Lafayette knotted the score again at 4-4 with 11:36 remaining before the half.
  • Both defenses keyed in and the attacks quieted down, as neither team could get quality shots off until the Leopards broke a near seven-minute scoring drought as Wilhelmsen put in her third score of the half.
  • Jayne rekindled BU's attack with back-to-back goals in a 40-second span before assisting on Kaitlin Belval's score right before the half, sending BU to the break with a 7-5 advantage.
  • Lafayette scored the opening goal of the second half to put the score within one, though Belval roped in a shot on a dish from Taylor Hardison to reclaim a two-goal lead for the Terriers with 22:08 remaining.
  • Belval continued her offensive assault with her third straight score, taking the ball at midfield on a clear and sprinted uncontested to the goal.
  • Donahoe, Larivee and Cathering McAuley added to the scoring onslaught, furthering BU's run to 5-0 as it thrust out to a commanding 12-6 lead with 11:33 left.
