KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Senior
Rachel Bloznalis of the Boston University women's soccer team has been named one of 61 NCAA Division I student-athletes to the Women's MAC Hermann Trophy Watch List, as announced by the United Soccer Coaches Tuesday.
The reigning Patriot League Defensive Player of the Year, Bloznalis posted one of the most accomplished seasons in program history on the backline last year, earning NSCAA All-Region First Team and Patriot League First Team honors. Along with being a Senior CLASS Award candidate, Bloznalis was equally impressive in the classroom as she was named a NSCAA Scholar All-American and earned a spot on the Academic All-Patriot League Team.
The rising graduate student is a two-time captain and is the first Terrier to be named to the Women's MAC Hermann Trophy Watch List since
Marisha Schumacher-Hodge in 2007.
The MAC Hermann Trophy Watch Lists are compiled by members of the United Soccer Coaches Men's and Women's NCAA Division I All-America Committees. Fifteen semifinalists will be named for both the men's and women's MAC Hermann Trophy near the end of the college season based on voting by NCAA Division I coaches and from those candidates, three finalists will ultimately be placed on the ballot for the coveted award.
The MAC Hermann Trophy, the most coveted individual honor in NCAA Division I soccer, has been awarded annually since 1967. This year's winners will be announced on January 5, 2018 in conjunction with the 2017 MAC Hermann Trophy Banquet at the Missouri Athletic Club in St. Louis.
