BOSTON – Riding a two-game unbeaten streak, the Boston University men's soccer team will open the Patriot League schedule at defending conference regular season champion American on Saturday afternoon with action slated to begin at 2 p.m.

The Terriers (1-5-1) were selected to finish fourth in the Patriot League preseason poll, just behind the Eagles (1-6-1), who fell in a PK shootout during the PL title game last year to Colgate.

TERRIER TIDBITS
  • BU is coming off a two-game home slate featuring a 1-0 win over Harvard and 1-1 come-from-behind draw against Princeton.
  • Reigning PL Defender of the Week Senior Adam Sheikali recorded his second-career goal against the Crimson last Saturday and his fourth assist on junior Nicki Wieners' goal against the Tigers this past Tuesday.
  • Sophomore Matt McDonnell leads BU with 11 shot attempts, four more than freshman Peter Kargbo, sophomore Satchel Cortet and sophomore Jerry Ozoh.
  • Freshman William Bonnelyche has started the last five games at net, posting a 1.34 goals against average and 0.667 save percentage.
  • BU owns a 30-13 advantage in corner kicks, though opponents have a slight 74-73 lead in shot attempts.
  • The Terriers are currently 0-4-0 on the road having been outscored, 9-0 ... They went 1-4-2 last season with a 1-1-2 mark in Patriot League competition, including win at Holy Cross and draws to both Loyola Maryland and Bucknell.
SCOUTING AMERICAN
  • The Eagles are currently on a five-game winless streak (0-4-1) following the 1-0 win at Oregon State ... They've been outscored, 14-2, during that stretch with losses to Albany, West Virginia, Marist and Gonzaga.
  • AU is 0-3-1 at home this season after going 6-2-1 a year ago ... The lone tie came against Binghamton (1-1) back on Sept. 11.
  • Tim Neumann owns four points off a goal and two assists, while both Vinny Barone and Max Holdsworth both have one goal apiece.
  • Similar to BU, the Eagles have also had three goalkeepers appear this season ... John Mino has made eight appearances, posting a 2.24 goals against average and 0.630 save percentage.

  • AU leads the all-time series, 3-1-1, after claiming a 2-0 road win last season with two second-half goals and 23-5 advantage in shot attempts.
  • BU won in D.C. two years ago, 1-0, en route to the NCAA tournament despite being out shot, 21-6.
