BOSTON – The Boston University women's basketball returns to Case Gym following a five-day road trip, welcoming Holy Cross for a Turnpike Trophy matchup on Saturday, Jan. 13 at 2 p.m.

LAST TIME OUT

  • BU topped Colgate, 62-49, Thursday afternoon at Cotterell Court.
  • Payton Hauck and Naiyah Thompson paced the Terriers with 13 points apiece.
  • Nia Irving also reached double-digit scoring figures with 10 points.
  • The defense surrendered just 17 points in the first half, setting a season-low for points allowed in a half.

DEFENSE GETTING IT DONE

  • In four of its first five Patriot League contests, BU has limited its opponents to under .400 percent shooting from the floor.
  • BU has limited two of its last three opponents to shoot under 28 percent from the floor for the game.
  • In Patriot League play, BU ranks third with a .362 field goal percentage defense.
  • The Terriers are also averaging 5.4 blocks per game in conference play.

HOT HAND

  • Payton Hauck leads the Patriot League with a .515 shooting percentage.
  • Hauck recorded a season-high .714 shooting clip (5-for-7) at Colgate on Thursday.
  • The junior from York, Pennsylvania has shot at least .500 in five of the last six games.

SCOUTING HOLY CROSS

  • The Crusaders fell to Navy, 65-58, to drop to 2-3 in Patriot League games and 7-9 overall.
  • Lauren Manis leads the league with 18.1 points per game and ranks sixth with 8.4 rebounds per contest.
  • Infiniti Thomas-Waheed follows, as she ranks second in the league in scoring (16.8) and ranks 12th in rebounding (5.9).
  • Holy Cross boasts the second-highest scoring offense in the league (71.8), but ranks eighth in scoring defense (66.0).
  • Sarah Hope '17 is in her first season as the Crusader's director of operations. Hope set the BU all-time 3-point record with 253 career makes.

THE SERIES

  • BU swept Holy Cross last season for the first time since joining the Patriot League and won back-to-back games against the Crusaders for the first time since 1977.
  • Holy Cross holds the all-time series command, 13-5, and has won five of the eight matchups since BU joined the Patriot League.
  • Sophie Beaudry was named the Turnpike Trophy in last season's matchup after recording 21 blocks and five blocks en route to a 68-56 victory at Case Gym on Feb. 25.

TURNPIKE TROPHY

  • BU holds a 5.5-1.5 lead in this year's Turnpike Trophy series.
  • The Terriers dominated with a 21-1 record in Turnpike Trophy games in 2016-17.
  • Overall, BU leads 46.5-6.5 in the all-time Turnpike Trophy series.
