Women’s Rowing Competes at HOCR, Lightweight 4 Takes Second

RESULTS

BOSTON - The Boston University women's openweight and lightweight rowing teams competed in Day 2 of the 54th Head of the Charles Regatta on Sunday. The day was highlighted by a second-place finish among collegians in the women's lightweight championship 4 race.

 HOW IT HAPPENED – Lightweights
  • In the women's lightweight 8 race, the Terriers battled old foes Stanford and Princeton with the Terriers finishing third in a field of nine. Coxed by Katie Barnett and stroked by Janice Hagerman, the lightweight varsity 8 boat finished with a time of 18:20.38, behind defending national champion Stanford (18:05.12) and second-place finisher Princeton (18:19.27).
  • The lightweight 8 "B" finished eighth in the same race with a time of 19:34.62.
  • In the women's lightweight 4 race, the 4 "A" boat finished second among collegiate boats and third overall with a time of 20:23.52. Coxed by Antonella Kugler and stroked by Riona McCormick, BU finished behind winner Harvard (20:07.05) and second-place Vesper Composite (20:20.69). 
  • The lightweight 4 "B" finished fifth overall with a time of 20:32.05.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED – Openweights 
  • In the women's championship 8 race, the Terriers finished 19th among collegians in a field of 27 of the best boats in the country. Coxed by Julia White and stroked by Shannon McGurty the BU 1V finished with a time of 18:55.59.
  • In the women's championship 4 race, the Terriers finishing 14th among collegians. Coxed by Isabella O'Shea and stroked by Sophia Castillo, the openweight varsity 4 boat finished with a time of 21:38.64.

Women's Openweight Club 4 – 18th among collegians (20:04.53)

HOW IT HAPPENED – WOMEN OPENWEIGHTS SATURDAY
  • Competing on Saturday, the women's openweight rowing team competed in the Club 4 race. Coxed by freshman Olivia White and stroked by classmate Rachael Chiao, the Terriers finished 18th among collegians and 21st overall with a time of 20:04.53 in a field of 52 boats.
