DERBY, Conn. - Highlighted by a second-place finish by the varsity eight boat and a first-place finish by the novice eight boat, the Boston University women's lightweight rowing team opened its fall season at the Head of the Housatonic Regatta on Saturday.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Competing against openweight competition, the BU lightweight varsity eight boat, coxed
Katie Barnett and stroked by
Riona McCormick, finished second with a time of 19:07.2 in a field of 18 boats. The Terriers' second varsity eight boat finished in fourth in the same race with a time of 19:10.03.

Later in the day, the BU varsity four, coxed by
Eleanor Balke and stroked by
Kyra Patterson, finished fifth in its race with a time of 18:12.06. In the same race, the BU 4+ B finished sixth with a time of 18:28.9.

The Terriers will now prepare for the 54th Head of the Charles Regatta on Oct. 20 and 21 with the DeWolfe Boathouse once again serving as the official starting line.
