CENTER VALLEY, Pa. - Freshman
Hanako Kawasaki of the Boston University golf team was selected as Patriot League Golfer of the Month for October, the conference announced on Wednesday.
Kawasaki was sensational in her lone tournament of the month and only third career collegiate competition, winning the Yale Intercollegiate on Oct. 7. She finished the three-day, 54-hole event with a program-record score of 211 (-2) to help BU claim its first team title since the 2015 Patriot League Championship. Kawasaki fired a final-round 67 (-4), which included zero bogeys and three straight birdies on 14, 15 and 16. That score was the lowest 18-hole total in program history and also tied
Emily Tillo's record for low score in relation to par. Kawasaki began the weekend with an even-par 71 before shooting 73 the next day.
A native of Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, Kawasaki finished the fall with an average of 73.75 over eight rounds. She was at par or better three times and finished in the top 20 of each tournament she played.
