BOSTON – Currently riding an eight-game win streak, the Boston University softball team will host rival Boston College in the home opener on Wednesday with first pitch set for 4 p.m.

TERRIER TIDBITS
  • The Terriers are 17-7 (.708) at home under third-year head coach Ashley Waters.
  • BU's eight game win streak is the program's longest against non-conference competition since the Terriers beat eight straight in 2006.
  • BU has outscored the last eight opponents by a combined score of 63-22 while hitting .378 and holding opponents to .222 ... The Terriers have claimed a combined 25-3 advantage in doubles and triples during the streak but trail in homers, 7-3.
  • During the win streak, senior Brittany Younan (.295 avg.) owns a stellar 1.037 slugging percentage and .519 batting average with three doubles, four triples, a homer, six RBIs and 14 runs scored ... She currently leads the nation with eight triples total.
  • Senior Emma Wong (.375 avg.) has successfully reached base each of the last 16 games and is hitting .490 during that stretch with eight stolen bases and 15 runs scored (20 total) ... Junior Alex Heinen (.366 avg.) has also been impressive, batting .400 with two homers and a team-high 16 RBIs (24 total).
  • Junior Madi Killebrew is the third Terrier over .300 at .362 with 11 RBIs and 11 doubles, one shy of cracking the top 10 for a season at BU.
  • Reigning PL Player of the Year and senior Jilee Schanda (.284 avg.) has combined with junior Alexa Ponce (.236 avg.) for 33 RBIs.
  • The Terriers own a .965 fielding percentage with opponents (.946%) committing 22 more errors (53-31).
  • Freshman Ali Dubois (10-4, 2.49 ERA) has appeared in seven of the eight games during the win streak and has tallied 33 strikeouts in 34 innings with opponents hitting .223 ... She owns 15 starts on the season.
  • Freshman Cali Dolfi (4-6, 2.47 ERA) has pitched two complete games ... Sophomores Lizzie Annerino (1-3, 2.47 ERA) and Kali Magane (1-1, 4.20 ERA) have combined with Dolfi for 14 starts.
SCOUTING BOSTON COLLEGE
  • The Eagles are riding a three-game win streak after sweeping Virginia last weekend by a combined score of 21-6 with the help of two shutout wins, including an 8-0(5) victory.
  • BC owns an impressive win at then-No. 18 Ole Miss (8-2) along with other key victories against Nebraska (3-0), Indiana (4-0) and Fordham (4-2).
  • BC shared three opponents with the Terriers ... The Eagles edged CCSU, 1-0, and fell to Michigan State (9-5) before being swept by Duke on the road by a combined score of 11-8.
  • The Eagles are hitting .243 as a team and holding opponents to .221 with a 9-2 advantage in triples and 8-7 lead in homers.
  • Chloe Sharabba leads BC at .368 with a .451 on-base percentage, 11 RBIs, two homers and 19 runs scored, while Annie Murphy (.302 avg) and CC Cook (.292 avg.) both own 11 RBIs apiece ... Cami Sellers (.183 avg.) leads BC with three homers and 12 RBIs with the help of 10 walks.
  • BC's pitching staff ranks 45th nationally in ERA at 2.28 and 65th in strikeout-to-walk ratio (2.32).
  • 2017 All-ACC First Team member Jessica Dreswick (8-8, 2.38 ERA) has pitched a complete game in nine of her 19 starts with 108 strikeouts in 114.2 innings with opponents hitting .207 ... Allyson Frei (3-7, 2.15 ERA) owns 67 strikeouts in 71.2 innings.
SERIES HISTORY
  • The Terriers own a 21-24 all-time record in a series dating back to 1988 ... The Eagles have won the last five meetings with BU last winning both contests in 2013.
  • In the 2017 meeting at BC, Dreswick held BU to just four hits and an unearned run with the help of eight strikeouts, and Cortez delivered a two-RBI single up the middle in the fifth en route to a 3-1 victory.
  • In the last meeting at BU, the Eagles escaped with a 5-4 eight-inning victory.
