BU Opens California Trip with 5-1 Win at Concordia

NEWPORT BEACH, Calif. – Playing its first of four matches this week in the Golden State, the Boston University men's tennis team claimed a 5-1 victory at the University of Concordia, Irvine.

The Terriers (7-5) won two of three doubles matches, including the tiebreaker at line 2, before capturing three singles points in the No. 4-6 slots in straight sets. The top three singles contests all went to a third set and were left unfinished.

MATCH NOTES
  • Due to NCAA Division II rules, each doubles match counted as one point.
  • Freshman Ethan Kolsky teamed with classmate Owen Lu for an 8-4 win at No. 3 doubles and followed up with a 7-6(5), 6-1 victory in the No. 5 singles slot for two points.
  • Freshman David Bogatin also recorded a pair of points by teaming with sophomore Fabian Soemarno for an 8-7(4) win at No. 2 doubles and then coasting to a 6-0, 6-2 victory at line 4 in singles.
  • Sophomore Marc Sable won the fifth point for the Terriers with a dominating 6-1, 6-1 victory at line 6.
  • The Eagles held off junior Satyajit Simhadri and sophomore J.P. Avila to capture the No. 1 doubles point, 8-5.
