Oluwadara Wins Triple Jump at Penn Relays

PHILADELPHIA, Pa. – Highlighted by a first-place finish in the triple jump by graduate student David Oluwadara, the Boston University men's track and field team continued its outdoor season competing at the prestigious Penn Relays which concluded on Saturday.
 
In addition to the Penn relays, several Terriers also competed at the Skyhawk Invite hosted by Stonehill College in Easton, Mass.

TOP PERFORMANCES
  • David Oluwadara continued his amazing outdoor season, winning the triple jump with a leap of 15.81 meters (51'10.4"). Oluwadara currently has the sixth best triple jump in the country this season with a 16.21 meter mark he set on April 13th in Auburn which broke the BU school record.
  • The men's 4x100 had an excellent performance over the weekend. Competing in heat racing on Friday, Justin Flynn, Chiebuka OnwuzurikeJordan Love and Cameron Nurse finished 10th with a time of 40.96 and advanced to Saturday's College Final. In the College Final, BU finished second with a time of 40.09, which is the fastest 4x100 run in the Patriot League this season.  
  • The men's 4x200m relay team of Nikolas Smith, Chiebuka Onwuzurike, Jordan Love, Cameron Nurse finished fifth in their heat race with an excellent time of 1:25.34 to advance to the Championship Invitational. In the Championship Invitational on Saturday, the 4x200m relay team finished fourth with a time of 1:23.99, just missing the school record of 1:23.99 set at last year's Penn Relays.
     
ABOUT THE PENN RELAYS
  • The Penn Relays are the oldest and largest track and field competition in the United States, hosted annually since 1895 by the University of Pennsylvania at Franklin Field in Philadelphia. Attendance typically tops 100,000 over the final three days and topped 50,000 on Saturday.

TOP PERFORMANCES
  • Jonathan Fierro finished first in the 5000m run with a time of 15:42.31 in a field of 13.
  • Scotti Hamilton finished fourth in the 1500m with a time of 4:03.28.
  • Alexander Seal competed in the 800m and finished eighth with a time of 1:54.99.  
  • In the field, Liam Cusack competed in the javelin throw and finished fifth with a throw of 40.63 meters (133'4")
  •  Robert Saligman finished fifth in the pole vault with a vault of 4.40m (14'.5.25").
  •  Logan Broedner finished fifth in the 3000m with a time of 9:11.45.

The Terriers will compete at the Patriot League Outdoor Track & Field Championships on May 4-5 in Easton, Pa.
