BOSTON - Visiting Holy Cross for the first Turnpike Trophy matchup of the academic year, the Boston University women's soccer team will take on the Crusaders on Wednesday, Sept. 26 at 7 p.m. at Linda Johnson Smith Soccer Stadium.

Turnpike Trophy

  • BU dominated Holy Cross in the 2017-18 Turnpike Trophy series, finishing with a commanding 21-4 score.
  • Since the Turnpike Trophy's inception, BU has posted a 62-9 record across the board against the Crusaders.
  • Now in its fourth year, this will mark the third year in-a-row women's soccer has played the opening game of the Turnpike Trophy series.

Terrier Tidbits

  • Chelsea Churchill and Morgan Messner each picked up their first career honors from the Patriot League, as Churchill was tabbed the Midfielder of the Week, while Messner was named the Rookie of the Week on Monday.
  • Churchill delivered the game-winning goal on a running header against the Mountain Hawks on Saturday, paving the way for the Terriers to earn their first Patriot League victory of the season.
  • Anna Heilferty assisted on Churchill's score for her team-best third assist of the season.
  • Heilferty also leads the team in goals (3) and has posted three points over BU's first two conference games.
  • Messner was stellar in between the pipes, setting a new career high with six saves en route to her second shutout of the season.
  • The freshman leads the team with a 1.42 goals against average and .733 save percentage and has posted shutouts in both of her wins in net this season.
  • BU is 37-5-4 all-time in regular season Patriot League games and have never surrendered more than two goals in any league contest.
  • Additionally, BU has posted at least five clean sheets in each of its first five seasons in the Patriot League, and has amassed 29 league shutouts.
  • Head coach Nancy Feldman is one win away from her 300th career victory at BU.
  • Feldman has posted a 299-150-46 (.650) mark during her tenure at BU and owns a 391-168-55 (.681) career record.
Scouting Holy Cross
  • The Crusaders are coming off a 2-0 shutout at Lafayette for their first league win and third overall.
  • Carly Flahive leads the team with four goals and 18 shots.
  • Sophie Lettieri has played every minute in net, registering a 1.31 goals against average and a .765 save percentage.
  • Former BU associate head coach Casey Brown is in her third season as head coach of the Crusaders.
  • Brown spent three seasons with the Terriers, aiding the team to three straight Patriot League titles and was named the 2015 NSCAA Mid-Atlantic Region Assistant Coach of the Year.
