BOSTON - Looking to rebound after dropping its first Patriot League contest of the season, the Boston University women's basketball team will trek across the Mass Pike to Holy Cross on Saturday, Jan. 19. Saturday's Turnpike Trophy tilt at the Hart Center is set for 3 p.m. and can be seen live on the Patriot League Network.

TURNPIKE TROPHY

  • The Terriers are 5-0 in Turnpike Trophy games during the 2018-19 season series.
  • BU dominated Holy Cross in the 2017-18 Turnpike Trophy series, finishing with a commanding 21-4 score.
  • Since the Turnpike Trophy's inception, BU has posted a 67-9 record across the board against the Crusaders.

TERRIER TIDBITS

  • BU held a 17-point lead midway through the third quarter, but COLGATE used a 44-18 run over the final 15:25 of play to flip the outcome of the game, handing the Terriers their first defeat on its home court this season on Wednesday.
  • Nia Irving posted her third double-double of the season with a season-best 19 points to go with a career-high 15 rebounds.
  • Payton Hauck led the Terriers with 20 points on 9-of-13 shooting, while Naiyah Thompson also reached double figures with 10 points.
  • Hauck has upper her scoring average (15.0) and shooting percentage (52.8) in Patriot League games.
  • After missing two games due to injury, Riley Childs has returned to average 10.5 points and 6.0 rebounds over the last two games.

SCOUTING HOLY CROSS

  • After posting a 8-3 record in non-conference play, the Crusaders have won just one of their first five Patriot League games.
  • Lauren Manis is proving why she was tabbed the Patriot League Preseason Player of the Year, as she has notched a double-double in 12 of 15 games.
  • Manis leads the league in scoring (19.3), ranks second in rebounding (11.8) and third in blocks per game (1.2).
  • Avery LaBerbera (11.4) and Megan Swords (11.3) follow to pace the Crusaders to the second-highest scoring team (66.4) in the league.
  • Madalyn Smith is the primary facilitator of the offense with 4.0 assists per game.
  • Kathryn Pedi leads the league with a 42.7 percent shooting clip from 3-point range and sits in fourth with 2.2 triples per game.

THE SERIES

  • BU has taken three of the last four matchups, though Holy Cross leads the all-time series, 14-6.
  • Irving dominated the Crusaders last season, putting up 20-point games in each Turnpike Trophy games and earned MVP honors in the last matchup in Worcester after notching a double-double with 24 points and 11 rebounds.
