BOSTON - Venturing to Bucknell for its first conference test on the road, the Boston University women's basketball will start a two-game road swing on Sunday, Jan. 2 against the Bison. Tip-off from Sojka Pavilion is slated for 2 p.m. and can be seen live on the Patriot League Network.

TERRIER TIDBITS

  • The Terriers outscored Army West Point 18-7 in the third quarter to fuel to 63-51 victory Thursday at Case Gym in its Patriot League opener and improve to 5-0 at home.
  • Naiyah Thompson posted her second career double-double with 13 points and rebounds apiece.
  • Payton Hauck led all scorers with 14 points, while Nia Irving matched Thompson with a 13-point effort and Katie Nelson chipped in 12 points.
  • First-year head coach Marisa Moseley became the first leader of the Terriers to win her debut game in conference play since Margaret McKeon's first America East matchup in 1999.
  • BU traveled 857 miles to and from its six non-conference games.
  • The Terriers will rack up the miles during the Patriot League season, starting by traveling 375 miles to Bucknell before continuing 136 miles to Loyola.
  • Round trip, BU's first road trip will cover 911 miles, 54 more miles than its total non-conference mileage.
  • Irving leads the team in scoring (13.3), which is tied for sixth in the league, and also leads the Terriers in rebounding (7.9).
  • The junior has scored in double figures in seven straight games, scoring at least 15 points in four of those contests, and has two double-doubles on the season.
  • Nelson leads team with 3.7 assists per game, which is tied for second in the league.

SCOUTING BUCKNELL

  • The Patriot League preseason favorite, Bucknell posted a convincing 71-56 victory over defending champion American on Thursday.
  • The Bison stand at 10-3 overall and are also 5-0 on their home court.
  • Bucknell leads the league in nearly every statistic, most notably boasting a 71.6 scoring average and a 12.2 margin of victory.
  • Two-time All-Patriot League Second Team member Kaitlyn Slagus leads the team in scoring (12.1) and rebounding (7.6).
  • Three other Bison are averaging double-digit scoring in Kate Walker (11.1), Ellie Mack (10.8) and Abby Kapp (10.5).

THE SERIES

  • BU won the series debut matchup in 2014, but has dropped the last nine contests against the Bison.
  • In the first matchup against the Bison last season, Vanessa Edgehill hit a 3-pointer with 17 seconds left that put the Terriers within one at 59-58, but Bucknell would close out the game from the free throw to seal a 63-58 decision.
