BOSTON - Despite not allowing any corners and keeping the possession battle relatively even, the Boston University field hockey team was unable to get on the board against crosstown rival Boston College as the 17th-ranked Eagles came away with a 5-0 win on Sunday afternoon at New Balance Field.
Freshman Margo Carlin scored the game's first four goals, helping BC improve to 8-5 on the season. The Terriers fall to 4-8 with the loss.
After three quarters, shots were an even eight apiece, but Carlin scored two goals in both the first and third periods.
HOW IT HAPPENED

- The lead was doubled at the 7:10 mark when an attempt from the left side by Nell Webber was redirected by Carlin at the near post to the netting.
- BU earned back-to-back corners in the second quarter but could not capitalize on the opportunity and headed into halftime with a 2-0 deficit.
- Carlin completed a hat trick when she collected a pass on the left side of the circle before spinning around and sending a high backhanded effort to the far corner in the 36th minute.
- The Terriers held a 4-2 edge in shots during the third quarter but BC goalkeeper Sarah Dwyer stopped both shots on goal in the frame.
- The Eagles took a 4-0 lead at 42:47 when Jaime Natale sent an elevated pass to Carlin, who tipped it up to the top of the cage near the right post.
- Charlotte Von Huelsen capped the scoring with 1:53 left in regulation with a high shot from the top of the circle.
