KIAWAH ISLAND, S.C. - Sophomore
Hanako Kawasaki of the Boston University golf team carded a bogey-free 69 on Tuesday in the final round of the Palmetto Intercollegiate, hosted by the College of Charleston at the Kiawah Island Golf Resort's Turtle Point course.
Starting on hole 14, Kawasaki opened her round with 15 straight pars before she birdied the final three holes. Kawasaki was the only player on the course Tuesday to not record a bogey, with her score of 69 tied for the lowest total of the day. It is the fourth time in her brief career that she has broken 70 and her score of -3 is her second best total in relation to par during her time at BU.
Kawasaki finished the tournament with a total of 219 (73-77-69), which was tied for 23rd. The Terriers were 20th as a team with a three-day score of 918 (306-309-303).
Freshman
Kristen Min Ju Kim fired a final-round 76 to finish with a 54-hole score of 231 (77-78-76). JuniorÂ
Katerina Doleckova (77-77-81) and senior
Zhangcheng Guo (79-79-77) both secured a score of 235 while senior
Abby Parsons collected a score of 237 (79-77-81). Parsons' week was highlighted by an eagle on the par-5 fifth hole during her opening round.
BU will not return to competition until the spring when the Terriers return to Kiawah Island on March 1-3 for the Kiawah Island Classic, also hosted by the College of Charleston.
