Lightweights Record Three Top 5 Finishes at HOCR

BOSTON – Highlighted by a fourth-place finish by the Championship 8 boat, the Boston University lightweight rowing team competed in the 55th Head of the Charles Regatta on Sunday. The lightweights recorded three top five finishes among the US collegians competing against the top lightweight boats in the country.

SUNDAY'S RESULTS
  • Women's Lightweight Championship 8 "A"– 4th (16:15.38) 
  • Women's Lightweight Championship 8 "B"– 7th (17:12.67) 
  • Women's Lightweight Championship 4 "A" – 3rd (2nd among US collegians - 18:14.85) 
  • Women's Lightweight Championship 4 "B" – 9th (5th among US collegians - 18:59.52) 
 HOW IT HAPPENED
  • In the Championship 8 race, BU's first varsity eight "A" boat, coxed by Antonella Kugler and stroked by Izzy Bichler, finished 4th with a time of 16:15.38. The Terriers finished ahead of arch rival and defending IRA National Champion Stanford (5th place -16:29.04)
  •  The varsity eight "B" boat, coxed by Nicolle Alvarez and stroked by Karsen Healy, finished seventh with a time of 17:12.67. 
  • In the Championship 4 race, BU's varsity four "A" boat, coxed Eleanor Balke and stroked by Dara Noonan, finished second among US collegians (third overall) with a time of 18:14.85
  • The varsity four "B" boat, coxed Emily Ho and stroked by Sirena Kruse, finished fifth among US collegians (9th overall) with a time of 18:59.52.

The BU Lightweights will next compete at the Foot of the Charles Regatta on Nov. 17.
