HOW IT HAPPENED
- BU earned the only corner of the opening half and took full advantage of it with Conolly executing a drag flick from the top of the circle on assists from junior Paige Mautner and Connolly.
- The goal came 4:44 in the second quarter.
- Lafayette, however, was able to take a lead into halftime by scoring twice in a span of under four minutes.
- Molly McAndrew punched in a rebound at the 23:31 mark before she assisted ono a tally by Sam Di Maio at 27:06, giving the visitors a 2-1 edge.
- Connolly drew BU even with the lone goal of the second half.Â
- Following a restart, the ball got to Mautner on the right side and her fast-paced entry ball went off junior Miya Denison's stick right to Connolly, who poked it in at the goalmouth with 19:44 left in regulation.
- BU put a pair of shots on goal in the final seconds of the fourth quarter but Lafayette netminder Sarah Park was up to the task to send the game to overtime.
- Both teams recorded a shot on goal in the first overtime but could not convert.
- The game-winner came from Lisa van der Geest as she avoided the reach of BU netminder Caroline Kelly following a pass from Caroline Turnbull and created space on the right side to provide a wide-open look at the cage.
