BOSTON – The Boston University women's basketball will continue its three-game America East road trip as it takes on two-time defending AE champion Maine on Sunday, Nov. 17. Opening tip is scheduled for 1 p.m. and can be seen live on ESPN+.
TERRIER TIDBITS
- BU used a strong second half to earn its first win of the season on Tuesday, defeating New Hampshire 78-64.
- Tied 42-42 at the break, BU limited the Wildcats to just 34.4 percent (10-for-29) shooting in the second half after the home team connected on 66.7 percent (20-for-30) from the floor through the first 20 minutes.
- Riley Childs led the Terriers with a career-high 21 points on 9-for-12 shooting.
- Childs has been pushing her game past the perimeter this season, as she has three 3-pointers through the first two games after connecting on six last season.
- The sophomore currently ranks second on the team in scoring (15.5) and is tied for second in rebounding (5.5).
- Dating back to last season, Nia Irving has scored in double figures in five straight games and has two double-doubles during that stretch.
- The Terriers are currently on a three-game win streak against America East opponents.
SCOUTING MAINE
- Maine is coming off a 76-70 double overtime loss to Brown on Monday, dropping to 1-1 overall.
- Blanca Millan leads the NCAA in scoring (32.0) and ranks second in made free throws (25).
- Blanca is the Reigning America East Player and of the Year as well as the Defensive Player of the Year and AE Tournament Most Outstanding Player.
- The senior put up 37 of the team's 69 points in Maine's season-opening win at Delaware.
- Freshman Anne Simon has reached double-digit scoring figures in each game so far and follows Blanca in scoring (11.5).
- Maeve Carroll leads the team in rebounding (8.5), while Kelly Fogarty owns four of the team's 10 makes for beyond-the-arc.
- Head coach Amy Vachon is in her third season at the helm of the Black Bears.
- Vachon, a 2000 graduate of Maine, has guided her alma mater to two straight America East championships and is a two-time AE Coach of the Year.
THE SERIES
- BU has won 11 straight games against the Black Bears, though Maine holds the all-time series lead at 40-32.
- Sunday will be the first matchup between the two schools since 2013.
