BOSTON - Ready for the second round of its Patriot League slate, the Boston University women's basketball team will host Bucknell on Saturday, Feb. 2. Tip-off from Case Gym is set for 2 p.m. and can be seen live on the Patriot League Network.

HALFWAY THERE

  • BU is off to its best start ever as a member of the Patriot League with a 6-3 record.
  • The Terriers have already passed their conference win total from last season.
  • The 2016-17 season was BU's best showing in Patriot League games, where it stood at 5-4 at the halfway mark before finishing with an 11-7 conference record.

TERRIER TIDBITS

  • Trailing by 13 points to start the third quarter, BU locked down on defense, holding Lafayette to just five field goals in the second half as it outlasted the Leopards 47-44 Wednesday night at the Kirby Sports Center.
  • Nia Irving posted her third double-double in Patriot League play and fifth of the season with 15 points and 14 rebounds. 
  • Riley Childs also reached double figures with 10 points, while Payton Hauck followed with seven points to go with six rebounds.
  • BU has been down at the half in each of its last two games, but has come back to win both.
  • Wednesday's 13-point deficit, including an 11-point gap at the half, marked BU's largest comeback of the season.
  • Last season, the Terriers won only two games when trailing at the half.
  • Nia Irving leads the team in scoring (13.1), which ranks sixth in the league, and also leads the Terriers in rebounding (8.7), good for fifth among Patriot League leaders.
  • Lauren Spearman has taken every advantage of being in the starting lineup after coming off the bench the previous three season as she leads the Patriot League in 3-pointers per game (2.5) and ranks second in minutes (37.0).
  • Katie Nelson leads team with 3.5 assists per game, which ranks fourth in the Patriot League.
  • Payton Hauck is posting another efficient season, ranking second on the team in scoring (11.8) and shooting percentage (44.3).

SCOUTING BUCKNELL

  • The Bison pounded Navy 77-43 on Wednesday to win its eighth straight game and improve to 17-4 on the season.
  • Three of Bucknell's four losses have come on the road.
  • Boasting the top offensive in the league with 71.6 points per game and an average scoring margin of 13.1 points, Kaitlyn Slagus leads the charge with 13.3 points to go with a team-best 7.6 rebounds per game.
  • Slagus also leads the league with a 59.0 percent field goal percentage and ranks second with 1.4 blocks per contest.
  • Ellie Mack (12.0) and Kate Walker (10.5) are also averaging double figures in scoring.
  • In Patriot League games, Mack ranks second in 3-point field goal percentage with a 46.2 percent mark.

THE SERIES

  • BU won its first game at Sojka Pavilion, 70-62, in the first matchup of the season series.
  • The win marked its first since 2014 against the Bison and snapped a nine-game losing streak.

  • The Terriers will start another two-game road trip at Lehigh on Saturday, Feb. 9.
