BOSTON - Hosting a quarterfinal Patriot League Tournament game for the first time in program history, the Boston University women's basketball team will look to avenge Holy Cross on Monday, March 11 in its postseason opener. Tip-off is set for 7 p.m. and can be seen live on the Patriot League Network.

ADDING TO THE RESUME

  • First-year head coach Marisa Moseley was named the Patriot League Coach of the Year on Friday.
  • Working with eight returning student-athletes and a squad that was predicted to finish ninth in the preseason Patriot League poll, Moseley thrust BU to finish fourth in the regular season standings, its highest finish ever, while matching its best conference record at 11-7.
  • Moseley is the first Patriot League Coach of the Year in program history, and is just the second coach in the program's 43-year history to be named the conference coach of the year, becoming the first since Kelly Greenberg earned the honors from the America East during the 2008-09 season.

RACKING UP THE HONORS

  • Four Terriers were also recognized by the conference as Payton Hauck, Nia Irving and Katie Nelson earned All-League honors, and freshman Riley Childs was named to the All-Rookie Team.
  • Hauck earned her first All-Patriot League nod by grabbing a spot on the Second Team after nearly doubling her scoring average from last season with a team-best 12.3 points per game.
  • Irving earned her second straight Third Team selection after leading the Terriers in rebounding (8.4) and ranking second in scoring (11.7).
  • An All-Rookie selection last season, Nelson earned her first postseason recognition by joining Irving on the Third Team.
  • Childs asserted herself into the starting lineup down the stretch of the season and responded with two double-doubles over the last seven games.

TOURNEY TIME

  • BU earned a first-round bye for just the second time in its six seasons as a member of the Patriot League, avoiding the first round for the first time since the 2016-17 season.
  • The Terriers are 1-5 all-time in the Patriot League Tournament.
  • Its lone win came in its first-ever Patriot League Tournament contest, a 40-35 triumph over Loyola in the first round on March 4, 2014.
  • With a win on Monday, BU would advance to the Patriot League Tournament semifinals for the first time ever.

TURNPIKE TROPHY

  • The Terriers are 12-2 in Turnpike Trophy games during the 2018-19 season series.
  • Both of BU's losses in the series this season have come at the hands of the Crusaders' women's basketball program.

SCOUTING HOLY CROSS

  • The Crusaders ended their season on a 9-3 run to finish as the No. 5 seed in the Patriot League standings.
  • Avery LaBarbera was named the Patriot League Rookie of the Year notching 11.7 points and 2.9 assists per game.
  • The freshman earned Patriot League Rookie of the Week honors four times this season, the most of any freshman in the conference.
  • Lauren Manis earned All-Patriot League First Team Honors after posting 20 double-doubles on the season and leading the Crusaders in scoring (17.1) and rebounding (11.1).
  • Megan Swords is also posting an impressive season, ranking second on the team in rebounding (7.4) and third on the team in scoring (10.6).
  • In both contests this season, Holy Cross has had four student-athletes reach double-digit scoring figures.
  • LaBarbera and Manis dropped 23 and 20 points in the first matchup Jan. 19, but BU keyed in on the duo the second time around Feb. 16, holding them to just five and 11 points.

THE SERIES

  • Holy Cross earned the season sweep of the Terriers with a 64-61 victory in the previous matchup on Feb. 16.
  • The Crusaders and American were the lone teams in the conference to sweep BU this season during the regular season.
  • Monday will mark the first time BU and Holy Cross will contend against one another in the postseason.
