CENTER VALLEY, Pa. - For the third straight year, senior Trevor Winans of the Boston University men's swimming and diving team has been named to the Patriot League All-Academic Team, as announced by the league office Tuesday.

Winans won at least one individual event in seven of BU's 11 meets during the regular season. He capped his outstanding career by playing a hand in 129 of the Terriers' 376 points at the Patriot League Championships to earn a spot on the All-Patriot League Second Team, marking his third straight selection an All-Patriot League Team.

Outside of the pool, he has served summer internships with the U.S. House of Representatives and the New York City Council and is currently interning with WBZ Boston. Furthermore, he has volunteered with the Greater Boston Food Bank and Swim Across America.

Winans, who will graduate with a bachelor's and master's degree in political science and a minor in journalism, currently maintains a 3.71 GPA.

Winans becomes the first Terrier in program history to be named to the Patriot League All-Academic Team in all three years of eligibility. To be eligible for the Scholar-Athlete of the Year award and the Academic All-Patriot League Team, a student-athlete must have at least a 3.20 cumulative grade point average and be a starter or key player in his/her sport.
