LEWISBURG, Pa. - The Boston University men's swimming & diving team put forth a strong effort on the third day of the Patriot League Championships on Friday at Bucknell's Kinney Natatorium, securing 13 top-20 finishes in individual events to maintain a fifth-place standing.
The Terriers flooded the 100-yard backstroke with six competitors in the evening finals, highlighted by sophomore
Jonny Farber's first career Patriot League A final. Farber took eighth in 49.05 after a career-best 48.83 in the prelims.
Sophomore
Tony Ponomarev was 14th in 49.53, followed right behind by senior
Keegan Duffy (15th, 49.92) and freshman
Charlie Nenchev (16th, 50.64). In the C final, freshman
Bradley Watters (49.85) and
Galen Carter (career-best 50.28) finished 21st and 23rd, respectively.Â
Nenchev added an impressive top-10 finish in the 200-yard freestyle with a career-best time of 1:38.36.
Another personal record came in the 100-yard breaststroke with
Andy Carlson placing 12th in a time of 55.05. Junior
Jackson Hogue came in 19th in the event (56.36).
The 100-yard butterfly started the evening and freshman
David Kohan was BU's top finisher, tying for 14th in his fastest time ever (49.08). Senior
Jed Tan took 16th (49.76) and freshman
Diego Rosario was 18th (49.20).
The C final of the 400-yard individual medley had five Terriers with freshman
Giovanni Sullo (18th, 3:57.01) and classmate
Charles Schreiner (19th, 3:59.03) posting lifetime bests. Senior
Nathan Herman placed 20th in 3.59.88 followed by sophomore
Evan Liu (23rd, 4:00.91) and senior
Dolan Grisbaum (24th, 4:02.15).
Night three of the meet closed with the 200-yard freestyle relay with senior
Pier Bressan, Kohan, Tan and Nenchev placing seventh in 1:22.22, a season best for the team.Â
Saturday (Feb. 22) marks the fourth and final day of the PL Championships with prelims at 10 a.m. and finals at 6 p.m.
