Terriers Continue Outdoor Season at Providence and Miami

Ocean State Invite Results | Miami Alumni Invite Results

The Boston University men's and women's track & field teams continued their outdoor seasons on Friday and Saturday competing at both the Ocean State Invite hosted by Providence College and the Miami Alumni Invite, hosted by the University of Miami.
 
The Terriers had several notable performances. In Providence, Johnny Kemps had a great result in the mile run, finishing second with a time of 4:06.85 and running the 1500m in 3:48.56, a new outdoor personal best and second-fastest in the Patriot League this year. 
 
On the women's side, freshman Andrea Claeson finished fifth in the mile run with a time of 4:53.18, a new personal best. In the field, Zoe Beard finished second in the pole vault with a 3.50m (11-5.75) vault which matched her personal best.

TOP PERFORMERS - WOMEN
  • Arden Creson finished with an excellent time of 12.85 in the 100m trials and in ninth place, setting a new personal best and just missing qualifying for the finals.  
  • Andrea Claeson finished fifth in the mile run with a time of 4:53.18, a new personal best.
  • Elin Wolker set a new personal best in the 5000m run with a time of 18:14.17 and in eighth place. 
  •  Freshman Meghan Convery competed in the 800m run and set a new personal best with a time of 2:19.82 and finished 42.
  • Casey Kelly competed in the 400m hurdles and finished seventh with a 1:06.85.
  • In the field, Zoe Beard finished second in the pole vault with a 3.50m (11-5.75) vault which matched her personal best. 
TOP PERFORMERS - MEN
  • Johnny Kemps had a great performance in the mile run, finishing second with a time of 4:06.85, a new outdoor personal best. 
  • Alexanser Seal took third in the mile run with a time of 4:07.04. 
  • Paul Luevano competed in the 800m run and finished 11th with a time of 1:53.61 in a field of 60 runners. 
  • In the field, James Cole had a good performance in the discus, finishing sixth with a throw of 35.56m (116-8) setting a new personal best.

TOP PERFORMERS - WOMEN
  • Leah Fowlkes competed in the 200m dash and finished 26th with a time of 24.45, the third-fastest 200 in the PL this season. 
  • Ebony Brown competed in the 100m dash and finished with a personal-best time of 12.16. In the same event, Alicia Thomas finished with a time of 12.17, also a personal best. 
  • Emily Turner finshed the 800m run in 2:16.50, good for 11th place in a field of 29.
  • Jordan Coverson finished 15thin the 400m run with a time of 56.17 while Anna Foreman finished 22nd in the same event with a time of 57.31.
  • Bridget Chiaravalle finished the 100m hurdles with a time of 14.75 and in 11th place in a field of 23. 
  • Sarah Cicchetti competed in the hammer throw and finished seventh with a throw of 47.31m (155-02).
  • Zoe Meinelschmidt competed in the javelin and finished seventh with a throw of 35.64m (116-11). Meinelschmidt also competed in the high jump and set a new personal best with a jump of 1.51m (4-11.5).
TOP PERFORMERS - MEN
  • Chiebuka Onwuzurike ran the 100m dash in a time of 10.78 and finished 28th. In the same event, freshman Ebruba Etta finished with a time of 10.90, a new personal best. 
  • Nikolas Smith competed in the 400m dash and finished with a time of 49.11 and in 21st place in a field of 42. 
  • The men's 4x100m relay team of Ebruba Etta, Chiebuka Onwuzurike, Nikolas Smith and Riley Sasaki, finished 12th with a time of 42.11.
  • In the field, Pablo Colon competed in the javelin and finished 11th with a throw of 48.65m (159-07) while Victor Figuero was 13th (47.45m (155-08).

UP NEXT
The Terriers will next compete in the Larry Ellis Invite in Princeton, N.J. on April 19-20 and the Sean Collier Invite hosted by MIT on April 20.
