ANNAPOLIS, Md. - Freshman Hanako Kawasaki fired a three-under 69 to lead the field after the first round of the Navy Invitational on Saturday afternoon at the Naval Academy Golf Course.

Kawasaki holds a three-shot lead over Navy's Christine McDonnell after her impressive opening round. She helped the Terriers finish the day second in the five-team field with a score of 307, just four strokes behind the first-place Mids. Lehigh is in third with a total of 323.

Junior Abby Parsons, playing as an individual, shot 77 to tie for fourth. Classmate Zhangcheng Guo is one shot back of Parsons in a tie for sixth with a 78, followed by junior Annie Sritragul in a tie for eighth at 79. Senior Megan Carter carded an 81 to tie for 12th while sophomore Katerina Doleckova tied for 20th with an 84.

BU will tee off in Sunday's final round at 8:30 a.m.
