MIDLOTHIAN, Va. - The Boston University golf team is in first place after 36 holes of the 2019 Patriot League Championship, hosted by the University of Richmond at Independence Golf Club.
BU combined for a score of 610 (304-306), one shot clear of Navy at 611 (310-301) and four strokes ahead of the host Spiders (306-308--614).
Freshman
Hanako Kawasaki fired an opening-round 73 (+1) and finished the day in third thanks to a score of 149 (73-76). She is just two strokes back of the leader, Navy's Shannon Gould (74-73--147) and one shot behind second-place Sophie DiPetrillo (71-77--148) of Richmond. No other player in the field had more birdies than Kawasaki, who sank five over the course of the day.
Junior
Abby Parsons is in fourth with a score of 161 (76-75), just two strokes back of Kawasaki. Sophomore
Katerina Doleckova is tied for sixth with a score of 153 (76-77) while junior
Annie Sritragul is tied for 10th at 157 (79-78). Junior
Zhangcheng Guo carded a 160 (82-78) to tie for 17th, followed by senior
Megan Carter (82-81--163) in 22nd.
The Terriers will tee off in Sunday's final round at 8:30 a.m. BU is in search of its second Patriot League title and its second automatic bid to an NCAA regional. The Terriers last won the conference championship in 2015.
