BOSTON - The No. 3 Boston University women's lightweight rowing team defeated No. 4 Harvard and No. 7 MIT on Saturday to win the Lightweight Beanpot for the fourth-consecutive year.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED
Under windy and cold conditions, the BU V8 boat pulled away at the start and never relinquished the lead. Coxed by Katie Barnett and stroked by Janice Hagerman, the BU 1V cruised to an open water victory with a time of 8:46.9, well ahead of second-place finisher Harvard (9:10.0) and third-place MIT (9:21.58).
 
The Terriers swept Harvard and MIT in all five races on the day, winning the V8, V4+, V4x and 2V4+ and 3V8 competitions. With the victories, the lightweights won their fourth-consecutive Beanpot trophy.

CLASS OF '19 UNDEFEATED IN BEANPOT 
Back in 2016, BU swept Harvard and MIT to win the Lightweight Beanpot for the first time since the competition's inception in 2013. Prior to that, Harvard had won the trophy for three- straight years (2013 to 2015). With Saturday's victory, BU has now won four-consecutive Lightweight Beanpot titles making the senior class of 2019 undefeated in Beanpot competition.
