Terriers to Make Short Trek to Northeastern Tuesday Evening

BOSTON – Resuming the schedule against in-state competition, the Boston University men's soccer team will visit Northeastern on Tuesday with action slated to begin at 6 p.m.

TERRIER TIDBITS
  • BU is coming off a 2-1 heartbreaking loss at Lafayette in which the Leopards scored the game winning goal during the 87th minute.
  • Sophomore Kari Petursson became the second Terrier to net a goal this year with a strike from 30+ yards out.
  • Freshman Marc Roura assisted on Petursson's goal after assisting on senior Matt McDonnell's equalizer last Wednesday's 1-1 draw at Brown.
  • McDonnell leads BU with two goals, four points and 27 shot attempts.
  • Junior Michael Stone has started all seven games and owns a 0.750 save percentage and 1.64 goals against average.
  • The Terriers have two games left on the road trip that started with a 2-1 double overtime loss at UMass Lowell.
  • Opponents are averaging 3.5 more shots per game and lead in corner kicks, 35-28.
SCOUTING NORTHEASTERN
  • Northeastern is 4-2-1 after posting 6-9-1 record a year prior ... This season, the squad is 1-2-1 at home following a 5-2-0 performance in 2018.
  • The Huskies are riding a five-game unbeaten streak with wins over Holy Cross (2-0), Drexel (2-1), UMass Lowell (2-1) and College of Charleston (4-2) ... The also had a 2-2 draw vs. Delaware after opening the season with home losses to both UMass (1-0) and Merrimack (2-1).
  • Both Ryan Massoud and Benjamin Klingen have a team-high seven points apiece off three goals and one assist.
  • Dan Munch, Bernardo Gracindo, Grant Elgin and Aiman Ginawi have two helpers apiece.
  • Chandler Cree (2-1-1) and Noah Abrams (2-1-0) have split time at net ... Cree owns a 1.07 GAA and 0.600 save percentage, while Abrams has 1.43 GAA and .688 save percentage.
  • Despite opponents owning a 40-33 advantage in corner kicks, the Huskies hold a slight lead in shot attempts, 84-83.
SERIES HISTORY
  • BU leads the all-time series, 21-8-2, that dates back to 1984.
  • The Huskies earned a 2-0 victory at Nickerson Field last season after the teams battled to a 1-1 draw in 2017 at Northeastern. 
  • Last year, Northeastern scored at 35:17 and again two minutes to the second half with the teams finishing tied in shots, 8-8.
