DeLaMater Named Patriot League Defensive Player of the Week

October 6, 2025

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – After helping lead Boston University men's soccer to a pair of victories with a team-high five points, senior Quin DeLaMater has earned Patriot League Defensive Player of the Week honors, as announced by the conference office Monday afternoon.

The weekly accolade marks the second ever for DeLaMater, who ended the 2024 regular season with his first award en route to receiving BU's third straight PL Defensive Player of the Year award. He first recorded a goal and assist in Tuesday's 3-2 win at Harvard and followed up with a career-high two assists during Sunday's 4-1 victory over Loyola Maryland at Nickerson Field.

During the non-conference matchup against the Crimson, the Marietta, Georgia, native struck first in the 11th minute by jumping in the air and flicking junior Lapo Romieri's free kick into the back of the net from just a few yards out. Less than two minutes after Harvard tied the game, DeLaMater helped BU retake the lead for good at 83:19 by managing to center sophomore Pharis Petrica's free kick via header to senior Aidan Kieffer in front of the goal for the easy score.

Over the weekend, DeLaMater delivered a long-range pass from beyond midfield to set up senior Ethan Gill's cross from just outside the box to junior Andrea Di Blasio for a sixth-minute goal. With the game tied in the 31st minute, DeLaMater fed the ball up to freshman Sebastian Otero, who blasted a shot off the Greyhounds' keeper to pull away for the victory.

Riding a season-high three-game win streak, BU will next continue the three-game homestand against Colgate on Friday (Oct. 10) at 6 p.m.
