BOSTON - Coming off an overtime victory against Holy Cross after trailing by as much as 18 points, the Boston University women's basketball team will look to keep the momentum going as it visits Loyola. Tipoff is scheduled for 6 p.m. and can be seen live on the Patriot League Network.
TERRIER TIDBITS
- Down by 18 points midway through the second quarter, BU stormed back to take down Holy Cross in overtime, 76-70, Saturday afternoon at Case Gym.
- Maggie Pina led all scorers with 23 points, netting 10 of those in the extra frame.
- Maren Durant was named the Patriot League Rookie of the Week for the second straight week on Monday.
- Durant led the Terriers in rebounding in each game this past week, starting with a season-high 14 rebounds at Navy, and set season highs in points (14) and blocks (5) against Holy Cross.
- Maren Durant, Sydney Johnson and Pina have each been named the Patriot League Rookie of the Week at least once this season.
- The trio represent the first time BU has had at least three different freshmen earn the conference's rookie of the week accolade.
- BU has had six rookie weekly honors this season, the most of any school in the Patriot League.
SCOUTING LOYOLA
- The Greyhounds are coming off an upset over Bucknell, handing the defending Patriot League champions a 60-50 decision on Saturday.
- With the win, Loyola improved to 5-14 overall and moved its conference record to 2-6.
- Stephanie Karcz leads the NCAA with 6.0 steals per game.
- Karcz also leads the team in scoring (11.7), rebounding (9.7) and assists (4.1) per game.
- Alexis Gray follows Karcz in scoring (8.6) and led the Greyhounds with a 16-point effort against the Bison.
- Gray is the top free throw shooting in the Patriot League, hitting on 84.8 percent of her attempts.
- Laryn Edwards has stepped up during conference play, averaging 10.1 points per game against Patriot League opponents and 4.1 points per game during the non-conference portion of the season.
THE SERIES
- BU overcame an early 12-point deficit and used a strong second half to edge Loyola, 44-42, at Case Gym on Jan. 15 in the opening game of this season's series.
- The Terriers have won five of the last seven against Loyola.
- Last season in Baltimore, the Terriers came away with a thrilling 64-62 overtime victory.
