WALLACE, N.C. - The Boston University golf team finished fifth at the River Landing Classic, which concluded play on Tuesday at River Landing Golf Course.
BU combined for a score of 300 in Tuesday's final round for a total of 890 (297-293-300), one shot back of fourth-place Jacksonville State and only nine strokes back of the winner and host, UNC Wilmington. This is the second straight tournament in which the Terriers have combined for a score of 900 or lower; BU had achieved a 54-hole score lower than 900 just once prior to this season. The team has also lowered its average by three shots since the fall from 303.79 to 300.7.
Sophomore
Hanako Kawasaki (75-72-73) and junior
Katerina Doleckova (74-69-77) both tied for seventh with a score of 220. Doleckova had entered the day tied for first after a three-under 69 in yesterday's second round. Both players finished the week with eight birdies apiece.
Senior
Zhangcheng Guo (74-76-73) led the Terriers with nine birdies this week, including three on Tuesday en route to a score of 223, which had her tied for 16th. Freshman
Alice Fan (74-76-77) tied for 27th with a total of 227 while classmate
Kristen Min Ju Kim (79-78-79) tied for 55th with a score of 236. Seniors
Abby Parsons (76-77-82--235) and
Saeros Oskarsdottir (79-83-76--238) both played as individuals and tied for 51st and 59th, respectively. Tuesday's 76 was Oskarsdottir's best round of the year.
The Terriers' seven golfers collected 42 birdies at River Landing. Through two tournaments this spring, BU has combined for 90 birdies and one eagle.
BU will continue its spring season on March 30 and 31 at the Pinehurst Intercollegiate.
