BOSTON - Coming off four wins in a seven-day span, the Boston University women's basketball team will close out a five-game road swing at Army this weekend. The Terriers will contend against the Black Knights on Saturday and Sunday, with both games scheduled to tip at 3 p.m. from Christl Arena.
BU improved to 4-0 after a pair of wins at Colgate last weekend, setting its best start to a season since the 1994-95 campaign. Katie Nelson highlighted the series by reaching the 1,000 career point milestone on Saturday, knocking down a 3-pointer from the wing to reach the mark en route to a 20-point effort in a 79-51 rout. Riley Childs led the Terriers the following day, posting team highs in points (14), rebounds (6) and assists (5) as BU held on for a 62-58 victory.
The Terriers currently hold the best field goal percentage (.509) and the second-best 3-point field goal percentage (.373) in the league. Nelson (.719), Maren Durant (.696) and Childs (.688) all rank within the top four in field goal percentage. BU is also efficient on the defensive end, as they are leading the league in steals (9.8) and rebounding defense (29.5), and have held each of its last 15 opponents to under 60 points.
Army dropped both of its contests against Holy Cross last weekend, falling to 1-3 in Patriot League action and 4-5 overall. Last weekend featured what was believed to be the first father-daughter matchup in DI history, as Army's Dave Magarity coached against his daughter, Maureen Magarity, who is in her first season at the helm of the Crusaders. BU has swept Army in each of the past two seasons, bringing its win streak to four, its longest in the series that stands at 9-9. Furthermore, the Terriers have taken six of last seven matchups in the series, with four of those wins taking place on the road.
