BOSTON – Contending against Holy Cross for the second time in as many days, the Boston University women's basketball once again proved too powerful for the Crusaders, taking a convincing 72-56 victory Tuesday afternoon at the Hart Center.
Katie Nelson led all scorers with 20 points on an efficient 7-of-10 shooting clip.
Maggie Pina also reached double figures, netting 11 points and connected on 3-of-6 attempts from deep.
How It Happened
- Durant went for back to-back layups before Nelson played a hand in the next six point as BU pushed out an early 10-6 edge.
- Emily Esposito sparked the offense with a pull-up jumper to beat the shot clock, and Sydney Johnson followed with a steal and score to make it a 15-10 game at the end of the opening frame.
- The Terriers carried that momentum into the second, using a 10-4 run to pull ahead, 25-14, midway through the quarter.
- Annabelle Larnard rattled in a 3-pointer to kick off another 10-point streak for the Terriers, while Nelson raked in eight more points to stake a 35-17 command at the half.
- After a slow start to the third, Maggie Pina hit a corner 3-pointer at the 5-minute mark as BU hit seven of its final next shots to put the score at 55-32.
- Seven different Terriers got on the scoreboard in the fourth quarter as BU put the game out of reach, 72-56.
