Women's Soccer Hosts Holy Cross on Wednesday

The Boston University women's soccer team will conclude a three-game homestand on Wednesday when the Terriers welcome Holy Cross to Nickerson Field for a Patriot League match. Game time is scheduled for 7 p.m.

As part of Pride Week, fans will be able to stop by the marketing table to pick up a free BU pride decal while supplies last.

TERRIER TIDBITS

  • BU extended its win streak to four games with a 1-0 home win over American on Saturday.
  • Freshman Eileen Solomon scored the winner in the 74th minute with junior Kayla Ross and senior Ashley Raphael providing the assists.
  • For Raphael, that was her second straight game with a point, as she scored the winner last Tuesday against Yale.
  • Freshman Celia Braun and junior Gretchen Bennett each made a save for their third straight combined shutout, all of which have been 1-0 victories.
  • Solomon was named Patriot League Midfielder of the Week while junior Ashley Buck was selected as the league's Defender of the Week.
  • Senior Jenna Oldham leads the Terriers in goals (4), assists (6) and points (14), with senior Margaret Berry (3g), sophomore Abigail McNulty (2g, 2a) and senior Amy Thompson (3g) tied for second on the squad with six points apiece.
  • Braun and Bennett have split time in all 14 games this season.
  • Bennett has allowed just one goal over her last seven appearances.

SCOUTING THE CRUSADERS

  • Holy Cross stands 1-11-1 overall and 0-4-1 in the Patriot League this year after a 1-0 loss to Loyola Maryland on Saturday, the Crusaders' fourth straight defeat.
  • Junior forward Katie Quinn leads the team in scoring with eight points on a team-best four goals this season.
  • Three of her four goals have come in the last eight games.
  • Junior Colleen McIlvenna is second on the squad with seven points thanks to a team-leading three assists.
  • Freshman goalkeeper Olivia Dubin has started all 13 games for the Crusaders this season.
  • She made two saves against the Greyhounds on Saturday.

SERIES HISTORY

  • BU is 10-2-0 all time against Holy Cross, including a 1-0 win in Worcester this past spring thanks to junior Geovanna Pereira's goal.
  • The Terriers' lone Patriot League loss to the Crusaders was on Oct. 23, 2019 at Nickerson Field.
  • Since BU joined the Patriot League in 2013, the Terriers are 7-1 against Holy Cross and have outscored the Crusaders, 18-3.
