Field Hockey Set to Host Maine on Sunday

BOSTON - The Boston University field hockey team returns to action on Sunday (Oct. 3) when it hosts Maine at New Balance Field. 

TERRIER TIDBITS
  • The Terriers are looking to reverse their fortune after a tough September that included four one-goal losses.
  • Freshman Payton Anderson continues to have a strong rookie campaign and has scored each of BU's past four goals and has had a hand in the past five.
  • Anderson has team highs in points (14), goals (6) and shots (25).
  • Senior Casey Thompson has a team-best four assists, which ranks tied for sixth among Patriot League players.
  • Junior Caroline Kelly stopped 19 of the 23 shots she faced last weekend.
SCOUTING THE BLACK BEARS
  • Maine has won its past five games and is a perfect 3-0 in America East play.
  • The Black Bears are coming off a 2-1 road win over Albany on Friday as sophomore Poppy Lambert scored a pair of fourth-quarter goals to rally her team to victory.
  • Maine's other wins this season have come against Providence, Monmouth, Northeastern, Stanford and Merrimack.
  • Graduate student Brooke Sulinski has team bests in points (18) and goals (9) while Lambert (6g) and seniors Sydney Meader (4g, 4a) and Chloe Walton (4g, 4a) have added 12 pionts apiece.
  • Senior Mia Borley has started all 11 games in goal this season and currently sports a .730 save percentage and a 2.12 goals-against average.
BU-MAINE SERIES HISTORY
  • BU is 30-8 all-time against the Black Bears but Maine has won the past two meetings, including a 2-1 contest in Orono back in 2019.
  • The past four meetings have been decided by a single goal.

  • The Terriers will return to Patriot League play next Saturday (Oct. 9) when they host Lafayette.
