No. 19 BU to Begin Home-and-Home Series against UMass Lowell Friday Night at Agganis

The No. 19 Boston University men's ice hockey team will begin a home-and-home series against UMass Lowell on Friday night when the Terriers host the River Hawks at Agganis Arena at 7:30 p.m. The teams will then skate at Tsognas Center on Saturday at 6:05.

BU will pay tribute to the late Travis Roy throughout Friday night's contest, beginning with pregame warmups when the Terriers will take the ice wearing 24. Fans are asked to then bea in their seats at 7:15 for the start of a pregame ceremony.

Effective Oct. 15, 2021, all guests 12 years and older will be required to present proof of full vaccination against COVID-19 or a qualifying negative COVID-19 test to gain access to Agganis Arena and the Case Center for ice hockey and basketball games. TERRIER TIDBITS
  • BU split last weekend's series with Merrimack, earning an 8-6 home win on Saturday after falling to the Warriors on the road, 3-2.
  • Freshman Ty Gallagher was named Hockey East Rookie of the Week after he collected a career-best three assists on Saturday, including the primary helper on classmate Brian Carrabes' game-winning goal.
  • Gallagher led the Terriers as a plus-4 on the weekend and also blocked two shots.
  • Sophomore Dylan Peterson notched his first collegiate hat trick, including a shorthanded goal.
  • Junior Wilmer Skoog leads the Terriers in both goals (4) and points (7) after finishing last weekend with three goals and one assist across the two tilts.
  • Junior Domenick Fensore continues to lead BU with five assists and he is second on the squad with six points.
  • Fensore is first among all Hockey East defenders in assists and is tied for the league lead among league blue liners with six points.

SCOUTING THE WARRIORS

  • UMass Lowell is 2-1-1, having earned a 2-2 tie and a 4-0 win at home against Michigan State last weekend.
  • Freshman Matt Crasa leads the River Hawks with three goals and is tied with senior Lucas Condotta for the team lead in points with five.
  • Condotta has provided a team-best four assists this season.
  • Nine different River Hawks have recorded at least two points this season.
  • Both senior Owen Savory and sophomore Henry Welsch have started two games apiece between the pipes.
  • Savory is 1-0-1 with a .907 save percentage and a 1.92 goals-against average.
  • Welsch is 1-1-0 with an .898 save percentage and a 2.51 goals-against average.

SERIES HISTORY

  • Boston University is 78-33-12 (.683) in 123 all-time meetings with the River Hawks.
  • Lowell, however, is 14-10-4 in the past 28 meetings and 15 of BU's 33 losses in the all-time series have occurred since the start of the 2011-12 season.
  • The teams met twice last season, with BU earning a 3-2 shootout win after drawing 3-3 in overtime at Tsongas Center on March 6.
  • The River Hawks defeated the Terriers in the Hockey East quarterfinals the next week, however, taking a 2-1 contest at Walter Brown Arena on March 4.
  • Friday will be the first time BU and Lowell have met at Agganis Arena since a 5-0 Terrier win on Jan. 24, 2020.
