Lightweights Open 10th Season at Head of the Housatonic

DERBY, Conn. – The Boston University women's lightweight rowing team opened its 10th season on Saturday morning at the Head of the Housatonic with a pair of top-15 finishes.

Competing against openweight crews in the Collegiate 8+ Division I race, BU's top boat coxed by junior Nicolle Alvarez and stroked by senior Karsen Healy posted a time of 15:38.9 for fifth place out of 25, just 2.1 seconds behind Boston College and 15 seconds ahead of Brown's fourth boat. Lehigh took seventh at 16:02.0. 

The Terriers' other boat coxed by senior Nora Chan and stroked by sophomore Natalie Erb placed 13th at 16:31.7.

BU will next prepare for the 55th annual Head of the Charles on Oct. 22-23 with the DeWolfe Boathouse once again serving as the official starting line.
