The Boston University men's ice hockey team will continue its 100th season this weekend when the Terriers face No. 18 Northeastern in a home-and-home series that begins Friday night at Agganis Arena and concludes Saturday night at Matthews Arena. Puck drop on Friday is at 7:30.
Effective Oct. 15, 2021, all guests 12 years and older will be required to present proof of full vaccination against COVID-19 or a qualifying negative COVID-19 test to gain access to Agganis Arena and the Case Center for ice hockey and basketball games. TERRIER TIDBITS
- BU is 1-1-2 in its last four league games, all of which have gone to overtime.
- In fact, the Terriers' last five Hockey East contests have either been a tie or decided by one goal.
- Junior Case McCarthy was named Hockey East Defender of the Month on Thursday after he led all league blue liners with four goals as part of a five-point November.
- Junior Wilmer Skoog leads BU with 12 points and is tied for second in goals (5) behind sophomore Dylan Peterson, who potted his sixth goal of the campaign on Nov. 27 against Cornell.
- Juniors Robert Mastrosimone (5g, 6a) and Domenick Fensore (2g, 9a) are tied for second on the squad with 11 points.
- Fensore is tops on the team with nine assists.
- Junior Alex Vlasic tallied two assists against Cornell while freshmen Tyler Boucher and Brian Carrabes each lit the lamp for the second time this season in the Cornell contest.
IT'S BEEN A WHILE
- BU and UNH have not faced off since a home-and-home series on Feb. 14-15, 2020.
- The Terriers won both contests, defeating the Wildcats, 4-1, at Whittemore Center on Valentine's Day before earning a 3-1 home win the next day.
- Wilmer Skoog lit the lamp in the 4-1 win at UNH while Jamie Armstrong added an assist.
- In the 3-1 win, Skoog and Logan Cockerill were among the goal scorers while Armstrong, Case McCarthy and Domenick Fensore each had one assist.
- Skoog scored the Terriers' first goal in each victory.
SERIES HISTORY
- The Terriers and Wildcats have played 186 times since the 1924-25 season, and BU holds a decided advantage, 113-52-21 (.667).
- BU is undefeated in the past 12 meetings (10-0-2), including a weekend sweep of the Wildcats in February of 2020.
- The Terriers have been victorious in 19 of the past 27 (19-6-2) contests against UNH.
- BU is 16-11-6 in 33 all-time visits to the Whittemore Center while boasting a 12-8-4 record against the Wildcats at Agganis Arena.
SCOUTING THE WILDCATS
- UNH enters the weekend on a three-game win streak, most recently earning a 3-2 overtime win over Holy Cross on Nov. 27 and a 1-0 win at Harvard on Nov. 26.
- The Wildcats are 4-1-1 in their last five games, including a 2-1 overtime win over UMass on Nov. 20.
- Senior Jackson Pierson leads UNH in goals (6) and points (9).
- Junior defender Kalle Eriksson has recorded a team-high five assists.
- Graduate student Mike Robinson has won two straight Hockey East Goaltender of the Week awards.
- He has allowed just three goals during the Wildcats' three-game win streak.
- For the season, Robinson owns a 2.46 goals-against average and an .899 save percentage.
