Duplessis, Tuch Lead No. 15 Terriers Past No. 1 Boston College, 3-1

BOSTON – Freshman Vinny Duplessis made 40 saves in his collegiate debut and classmate Luke Tuch scored a pair of goals to lead the No. 15 Boston University men's ice hockey team to a 3-1 victory over top-ranked Boston College on Saturday evening at Walter Brown Arena.
After giving up the first goal of the game, the Terriers scored once in each period with Duplessis making at least 13 saves in each frame.
Sophomore Alex Vlasic tied up the game with his second goal of the weekend before Tuch scored the go-ahead goal midway through regulation. Tuch added another in the opening moments of the third before the Terriers closed out the win to take four of six points in the home-and-home series.
HOW IT HAPPENED

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Eagles got on the board first but it ended up being their lone goal of the game.
- Video review produced evidence that Eamon Powell's shot attempt on the power play got underneath Duplessis and over the goal line at 11:41 of the second.
- The Terriers responded with a power-play goal of their own as Vlasic converted from the left slot after scoring his first collegiate goal on Friday at Conte Forum.
- Freshmen Dylan Peterson and Nick Zabaneh assisted on the Vlasic tally.
- A smooth play in transition gave the Terriers a lead they would not relinquish as Skoog slid a cross-slot pass to Tuch, who buried the puck from the inside edge of the right circle.at 10:22 of the second.
- Moments after the opening puck drop of the third, Skoog and Tuch once again teamed up with as Skoog forced a turnover and then got the puck back before saucering a perfectly placed backhand pass to Tuch at the left crease for the first two-goal game of his collegiate career.
- BC got two power-play chances after Tuch's second goal but could not take advantage of them and the Terriers won for the sixth time in their past seven games.
- Duplessis did not allow an even-strength goal in his first collegiate start while Spencer Knight turned aside 20 BU shots.
- BU went 1-for-4 on the power play while the Eagles were 1-for-5.
- BU's last win over a No. 1-ranked squad came in the 2015 NCAA Frozen Four semifinals against North Dakota.
- Each team was awarded a major power play in the game but neither team scored off of it.
- Zabaneh now has five assist over the past five games.
- The Terriers now rank second in the Hockey East standings in points percentage at .708, right behind the Eagles at .711.
- The Terriers will learn their next opponent on Tuesday (Feb. 9).
