BOSTON - Returning to the field, the Boston University women's lacrosse team will host Army West Point in a key North Division matchup on Saturday, April 17 at Nickerson Field. Game time is set for 3 p.m.
BU is coming off its two highest offensive outputs during its two-game homestead, with its most recent outing an 18-7 victory over Lafayette April 4. Makenzie Irvine and Emily Vervlied combined for 16 points, as Irvine set career highs in goals (7), while Vervlied set new career marks in both assists (6) and points (9).Â
Megan Hickey filled in spectacularly in between the pipes, finishing with 10 saves and a .588 save percentage. Jennifer Barry had another dominating performance on the draw, winning 16 decisions, and leads the league in draw controls per game (9.14).
BU needs a win vs. Army to keep its Patriot League Tournament hopes alive. With a win, the Terriers would force a multi-team tie breaker, and the remaining results of the season would determine their playoff fate.
Army is riding a three-game win streak, with all three matchups taking place within the North Division, to hold the division lead and stand at 3-3 overall. ackie Brattan set the program's single-game goal record (8) last Saturday vs. Lafayette. Brattan leads the team in goals (17), is tied for the lead in points (19), and has produced a hat trick in three of the last four games.
Army took its first win from the Terriers in the last matchup in 2019, though BU still leads the four-game series 3-1. Two of the four meetings have been decided by one goal.
