BOSTON - The Boston University field hockey team will host the Patriot League tournament for the fifth time in six years beginning with the semifinal round on Thursday (April 22) at New Balance Field.

The top-seeded Terriers will face No. 4-seed Holy Cross at noon before No. 2-seed American and No. 3-seed Bucknell meet at 5:30 p.m. The two winners will meet for the league championship on Saurday (April 24) at 1 p.m.

The Terriers posted a perfect 4-0 regular season with wins over Holy Cross, Lafayette, Lehigh and Colgate. It marked the fourth time that BU has gone undefeated in conference play since joining the Patriot League in 2013.

Either BU or American has emerged as the league champion in each of the past seven seasons. The Terriers hoisted the trophy in 2014, 2015, 2017 and 2018 while the Eagles are the defending champs after claiming the crown in 2019.

BU is 10-2 all-time in the Patriot League tournament and appeared in eight straight title games before not making the field for the 2019 tournament.

The Terriers met Holy Cross on the road in the season opener back on March 7 and came away with a 2-1 victory thanks to a late goal by junior Rebecca Janes. BU is 23-2-1 all-time against the Crusaders and has won the past 23 meetings dating back to 1983.
